If you fly into Eugene, Oregon, the first things you will notice are the beautiful hills with all of those beautiful trees. Those beautiful, tall, dark, and green trees on top of those beautiful hills. Nature provides Eugene with just enough rain to keep those hills a beautiful dark green.

Skyview of Eugene
Once you get past the hills and the trees, you will notice the Willamette River that runs right through the middle of Eugene. Why would they put a river right in the middle of town? You might ask. Well, they didn't. Nature did and it was there a long time before Eugene was. The Willamette River is very popular for boating and fishing, and at some points along the river there are some strong rapids.

5th Street
Over the last several years, Eugene has been growing up. The new buildings are modern and up to date. However, it was not necessary to throw away the old parts of town, and some of the new parts of town have maintained the design of years past.

If you take a stroll in downtown Eugene, you can still say "Hello", or "How are you today?" and the other person will respond with "hello" and the other person won't look at you like you are crazy because you took the time to talk to them.

Eugene's Fountain
The design of the downtown fountain is the design of the rest of the city. It is modern and sophisticated, but casual and relaxed. It is contempory, but it represents Eugene's past.
|
|
If you take a few minutes out of your busy schedule in the middle of the day, you can stand beside the downtown fountain and actually hear the water running. Tall buildings, prosperous businesses, busy people, and people going places, but all at a relaxed pace.
